30/07/2022 Olden
Olden: A picturesque village gateway to the Jostedal Glacier and Briksdal Glacier.
To get from the sea to Olden was around 100km of the Nordfjord and Innvikfjorden. It was a glorious way to wake up.

The sun took time to get over the mountainous sides

Olden was a very small village at the end of the fjord with low cloud before the sun hit the village

It was a really picturesque scene.

We had a trip booked, but had a walk up the valley along the side of the river first

Briksdal Glacier
We booked a trip to Briksdal Glacier. This turned out to be an amazing few hours.
To get to the glacier was a 3km walk amid mountains and waterfalls.

This was without a shadow of a doubt the standout waterfall.

The path wound up to the top of the top of the falls. There was a rainbow from all the spay from the falls

Where ever you looked there were great views.

At the top of the falls the gradient reduced to the glacial lake.

When we got to the lake, we were able to walk round the shore to get a great view.

It was amazing to be able to be able to see the detail in the ice.

31/07/2022 Skjolden
Skjolden: Located at the head of the Lustrafjorden (part of Sognefjord), renowned for its dramatic waterfalls.
This was an amazing day. Skjolden was at the head of the fjord, 200km from the coast. We first passed through Sognefjord before transferring to Lustrfjorden. The conditions were not great for photography but great to see.

Skjolden is another town with a population less than even the smallest cruise ship. We had a tour in the afternoon so in the morning we went for a walk.
We went to Åsafossen Waterfall.

The falls can be seen from a fair distance away, these were taken from the lake close to the village

The village of Skjolden from the other side of the lake

On the way up we passed other falls.

Looking back to the fjord

The fjord was spectacular

Nigardsbreen Glacier tour
The Glacier was not as impressive as the previous day, but was still an impressive sight.
We had a stop en route

Then we stopped at the visitor centre.

This let us view the glacier from a distance.

Then we drove to a car park at the head of the glacier

At the end of the day when we finally left the fjord caught this view.
