Coromandel

We arrived at Coronandel and the good weather from earlier in the day had gone.

So it was into the sea in a he rain.

We were staying in a bach (or holiday cottage to the rest of the world. In Hahei.

The view was great although a little forshortened with cloud.

Unfortunately over night the mosquitoes took advantage of the newly opened restaurant and I was on the menu.

Next day was dominated by a walk to Cathedral Cove and then a little tour to a few bays.

Hot Springs Beach – where a geothermal river crosses the beach

And the very cold water to get to it

Then it was a slow walk to Cathedral Cove taking in the detours to Gemstone Bay.

And Stingray Bay

And finally Cathedral Cove. it was worth the walk.

Then a walk back to Hahei and Hahei beach

The afternoon saw a trip to Cooks landing.

and was finished off with probably the best meal of the holiday at eggcenntric.

The next day the weather improved to give a better view from the Bach

Then after a visit to Hahei beach

There was a trip back to Auckland with a few stops for views of the Coromandel

After other stops for coffee and cake and to the Sculpture Trail at Auckland Botanical Gardens it was back to Joes flat.

Then out for a Vietnamese meal with Joe and Jane.
