Homeward Bound

So sat in Auckland airport about to start the 30 hour or so trip home.

A few negatives

It was a long flight

The weather was iffy

The internal flights were problematic.

Bloody insects

It was cloudy most nights

Continually being covered in sun cream and insect repellent

Having to change plans due to weather.

It could sound a bit iffy but in reality it was amazing and would I do it again – in an instant.

New Zealand has so many landscapes / ecosystems it is consistently changing.

I have seen fjords before but never with a rain Forest.

I have seen geysers but nothing like the painted valley

Nothing can compare to a visit to Hobbiton for a Tolkien fan – it is real!

The last black sand beach I stood on was in a blizzard- this one burnt my feet.

Jet boats are an amazing form of transport.

Cicadas totally blocked out the tinnitus on the north island

Christchurch will be the city to visit in a few years totally rebuilding the centre after the earthquakes

Auckland is surrounded by amazing beaches / countryside.

It was great to spend time with Joe and finally meet Jane.

Maybe 3 or 4 years and we will be back. (it took 6)

They are just the ones of the phone. The ones of the dslr are another level. It was only 37 hour door to door to get home!
